American actor and film producer Samuel L. Jackson previously denied any familial connection to Michael Jackson. However, Michael’s sister, Janet Jackson, claimed that Samuel is their cousin from her mother’s side.
Fans began to speculate about a possible connection between the two because of their shared last name.
However, Samuel addressed the queries in a 2017 Wired Interview, denying any blood relation to Michael Jackson.
The video finally put fans’ speculation about their familial relationship to rest. However, Janet Jackson’s recent claim about being related to Samuel has stirred up the web.
Janet Jackson’s Revealed That Samuel L. Jackson Is Her Cousin On The BBC Morning Show!
According to Daily Mail UK, Janet Jackson revealed during an appearance on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show that she is cousins with Samuel L. Jackson, adding that few people are aware of this connection.
After hearing the shocking revelation, the host Scot Mills was taken aback, to which Janet responded by saying:
He would be a cousin too, well he’s not my brother!
Janet also shared an Instagram post on Samuel’s birthday back in 2020, in which she posted a picture of them together.
However, it remains unclear why Samuel denied any connection with Michael Jackson, which has further fueled the controversy.
That said, Samuel and Michael Jackson share a common ground on their African-American lineage.
Born in Washington, D.C., as a single child to Elizabeth Harriett and Roy Henry Jackson, Samuel L. Jackson’s genetic ancestry is African-American.
According to his DNA test, Samuel partly descends from the Benga people of Gabon in Central Africa, which led him to become a naturalized citizen of Gabon.
Michael was born to Katherine Esther Jackson and Joe Jackson on August 29, 1958, in an African-American family.
Both of them are proud African Americans who celebrate their identity in their artistic pursuits and openly embrace their roots.
